What is Invisalign®?
Clear appliances (such as Invisalign®) use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. And, no one can tell you are wearing those aligners because they are invisible! Invisalign is made with 3D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective.
Why Invisalign®?
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable. No metal and wires usually means you spend less time in the orthodontist’s office getting adjustments! Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
How does it work?
You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Each aligner has its own prescription designed by Dr Foo that will allow your teeth to straighten in an orderly manner. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move until they have straightened to the final position the orthodontist has prescribed. You will visit our practice about once every six to eight weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. The number of aligners and length of treatment will be determined by Dr Foo, and varies from case to case.
Does Invisalign® work as well as normal braces?
Invisalign® can be as effective at straightening teeth as traditional braces in some cases. Patients with severe crowding or bite problems may require traditional braces or a combination of teeth straightening techniques with Invisalign®. Invisalign® may not be suitable for everyone. Dr. Foo will let you know if you are a good candidate for this treatment modality.
